Last October when we stayed at Hilton for one night, we got lured into this 3 night Hilton Grand Vacations hotel stay. The sales lady sold it well, made it sound low-pressure. Just go stay at a nice Hilton Grand Vacation Resort and see a presentation about ownership. It was a great deal, and we were excited to come back and see friends, so we signed up. Earlier this year we still had not booked the trip (if you do not book w/in 45 days you get charged another $50), so my boyfriend said let’s go for your birthday. I planned it and booked it.
Then began both of us worrying a bit about it and planning for the worst. The stipulations to go are that you as a couple make $70,000 or more and of course that you go to the presentation. Also, all staying must go, okay, just two of us.
Morning of, we woke up late, but still managed to get ready and over there on time. We went to Parc Soleil, they currently only have two building built, but they have plans for at least two more. They had us go upstairs to eat a light lunch. Well, the choices were hotdogs, donuts, yogurt…and drinks. Blah. I went with a donut, since we had not eaten yet, as I’m not a fan of hotdogs. They had us wait there for a while, and then brought us to another area to wait for our HGV presentation.

We met Adrienn Konczos, and she was very professional, friendly, understanding, and very good at her job. She was not forceful, she did not make us feel bad, she really sells HGV very well. It was a pleasant experience. We learned about the process, that you buy points for the level of vacationing that you plan on (later you can buy more if you want) – ex. if you want to vacation 10 days a year in a one bedroom HGV, then you buy points for that. Then you pay off your ownership over 10 years or so (you can finance with them or get outside financing). It is flexible, you can stay at any HGV with your points, or sister sites all over the world. It’s really a great option if you like vacationing or need a push to vacation, since you now own it!

I have to say, we went in thinking they’d be pushy and bring pushier and pushier people out, but they weren’t and they didn’t. Also, we thought it wasn’t affordable or worth it, but it is affordable and it is worth it. I mean, a guaranteed vacation every other year or every year of your life? Hello, now that’s awesome! Yes, you OWN your vacation for the rest of your life and pass on to your children (so you treat it like real estate on your taxes). And, if you want you can rent out your rooms at the HGV specified rate (how cool is that..you can make some $ and save your friends $ if you can’t go). Really this is a no brainer! Once you pay it off (and if you can pay cash, most worth it because no financing and interest payments), then all you pay are the maintenance fees. You are locked in forever for your room and stay level…so you will always get that…even as hotel costs go up. Seriously, it is something we never thought we’d want to say yes to, but it is.

Unfortunately for us, a life changing event happened since we purchased our package, I lost my job (and still job hunting – so if anyone needs an Instructional Designer…hehe). Luckily, HGV is so awesome that they said since this happened since we booked, we could come back and get the incentives and the awesome deal of joining during a presentation. As, that was what we were most bummed about…seeing that it was affordable and so flexible…but that we just could not budget this into our life at this point. We fully intend, if we plan to go ahead with it, that we will contact Adrienn Konczos – as she was awesome and would deserve our commission (as I do imagine they get that since they are actually selling real estate to you). I also, HIGHLY recommend her, if you feel this is for you.
