Hill’s Science Diet Ideal Balance Review

Since I am a BzzAgent, I was invited to join the campaign for a free bag of Hill’s Science Diet Ideal Balance dog or cat food. Well, then I had to decide who got the free bag of food…I went with my cat (Maja), because my dog (Parker) had received a bunch of free bags of food from another thing and there are still 4 full unopened ones!BzzAgent sent the information for the free bag and I ordered it promptly and it arrived before the BzzKit! Impressive! The bag I got was only a 2 lb bag, but free is free and cats eat less than dogs.I went with the Grain Free version. Well, the test…will my cat enjoy grain free cat food? Will she like something full of protein and veggies? Oh yes, yes she does! I plan on getting her (and my dog) more grain free food once all their other free bags of food are gone (it’ll be a while for my chihuahua).

February 2012 Movies Watched

Eventually, I’ll get caught up with this and just do it once a month. This installment is the movies I watched in February. Please never think Pete watched them all with me, he didn’t. And a lot he wouldn’t.

I will warn you, that I watched a lot of movies this month. So, movies I rewatched – I’ll just make a list of those…and only give my personal opinions of the others. If I rewatched you should know I must like it or love it! I rewatched a lot, because we didn’t have internet and I needed something going while I was unpacking after our move.

The “New” List

Underworld: Awakening – Saw this one at the theater and it just left me wanting, like the NEXT one will be satisfying and answer all the questions. Not cool Underworld, not cool. Glad Kate was back, but this movie left so much out and had so much more to tell. Blah. “You” better give me another Underworld that is satisfying! Real Steel – This was more for Pete, but I do really like Hugh Jackman, so…I gave it a chance and felt unsatisfied at the end. It just kind of wrapped right up and tied a little bow and blah. Breaking Dawn: Part 1 – So, I watched this way after everyone else I know that watches Twilight movies did…O’well. I liked it, but I didn’t love it. I do think I’ll love Part 2, though.

Toxic Skies – Eh, it was alright. Interesting theory…nothing special. In Time – I looked forward to watching this since I saw the preview. I felt let down. Somehow it did not fulfill whatever I had in my head for this movie (don’t ask me, I don’t even know). It was alright…I was entertained enough, but eh. Hangover: Part II – I was avoiding watching this…and for good reason! LOL. It had its moments that were funny, but it really had its moments that weren’t! I’m just not that into pain in movies used for comedy…this was no slapstick…anyway…I think it’s just me. OMG I just saw there is going to be a Part III next year. *rollseyes* I should say that I did enjoy the first one. Abduction It was alright. Geez…I’m totally on a no-movie-can-live-up-to-my-expectations kind of binge this month aren’t I? Even him being Jacob in Twilight did not make me love this movie. And, I’m actually Team Edward anyway, if I had to pick a team (I almost always go for the Vamps). Valhalla Rising Weird movie. Really weird. And, to be fair, we watched first half of it when we lived in FL (which is coming up on a year now), and the 2nd half well in Feb. The Machinist Weird movie, but it sucked me in. Trippy shit…and I sort of liked how it ended…and it certainly explained a lot. Buried Started to watch this, but we stopped. I read up on it, because it was tough to watch…and when I found out the ending, I was like no way am I going to watch this to see that ending. And, so I didn’t and I won’t.

Life Blood Thought – Lesbian Vampires = cool. So not. Yawn and cheesy. Secretariat Really good movie. I wasn’t going to watch it…and then I learned a bit about Secretariat and his owner and was like I’m gonna..plus Netflix was about to kick it off streaming, so…I watched and it was GOOD. And, I think I like watching movies Diane Lane is in.

Hercules in the Underworld – Guilty pleasure. I used to watch Hercules some back in college…thought I’d watch now. Cheesy guilty pleasure. The Rewatch List

  • Groundhog Day (own and love)
  • Troy (own)
  • Office Space (own and relate to it so much more than when first watched)
  • Wall-E (own, didn’t finish watching for some reason)

SELF Mag’s Drop 10 in 5 Wks – Week 2

Last week I completed week 2 of the SELF Magazine’s Drop 10 in 5 Weeks ‘program’. There were some things that had this week a bit mixed up and difficult, but it still went Monday to Friday. Sat & Sun were rest days. Everyday is warm up 5 min, cool down 5 min. And, when a scale is used its for walk/jog/run with 1 being the easiest and 10 being the toughest. Shannon is still doing the workouts with me.

Cardio Day 1 Felt pretty good, but my shins started hurting from all the starting and stopping.

  • Sprint at Level 10 for 8 sec.
  • Recover at Level 4 for 12 sec.
  • Repeat intervals for 20 minutes. This was 1.69 miles in 26.35 minutes. Earlier in the day I did 2 sets of 8 reps each biceps and back with 5 lbs weights.

This is why the common online pharmacy is dependent in Canada – it can be in a position to obtain the identical drugs from your similar producers, but can charge the purchaser a smaller amount since their price tag is a smaller cipla india viagra http://appalachianmagazine.com/2014/12/29/baptist-minister-arrested-in-saltville-for-stealing-chickens/ amount. Strength Day 1 Again the 8 Easy Toning Moves 12 reps x2. I used 4lbs weights this week.

  1. Seesaw Sculptor
  2. Booty Lifter
  3. Side Slimmer
  4. Pick-Me-Up Press
  5. Total Transformer
  6. The Mermaid
  7. Kick-It
  8. Super Plank (We actually did this week)Legs hurt from the day before, so it was tough at times, but we did it. We both felt awkward doing the Super Plank, hoping it’ll get better with time.

Strength Day 2 It was raining and cold out, so we decided to do 2 days of strength in a row. Same as above. A little bit easier today. Cardio Day 2 I pushed it this day!

  • Sprint for 60 sec. at Level 9
  • Recover for 3 min. at Level 4
  • Repeat 6 times Pushing it was bad…well my time was good, but my shins felt bad and to boot I got calf cramps the last two sets. Realized later that evening that I had shin splints…and I might have iced them. Anyway, it was 1.68 mile walk/jog in 25.04 minutes. A little faster than Monday!

Cardio Day 3 Due to the shin pain and potential shin splints, I decided that we’d ride bikes today. Thought we would do double the distance since on bikes, but that did not happen. I felt awkward riding Pete’s bike (seat all the way down), with Shannon riding my bike (seat all the way down) and then didn’t know where to go in the neighborhood. And, Pete’s gears were being funky and got stuck at 1-6…not that 3-1 had felt like itself anyway.

  • 2.5 miles at level 6Well, GPS said it was 2.57 miles, but it kept pausing and wasn’t tracking correctly, so I estimate we did another mile – maybe 3.5. Time was 33 minutes. My shins hurt after, but nothing like after Wed’s walk/jog…so that was an improvement.

I do think resting up on Saturday and Sunday and more icing on Thurs and Fri nights definitely helped my shin splints, but I think I’ll be taking it easy with the cardio (this week). So happy another week is completed! And, I managed to get back down to at least my so-called starting weight consistently…so phew…lost those 2 bad weeks of eating weight!

Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival

Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival is one of my favorite events at Epcot (oh I don’t have just one). This year it started on March 7, 2012 and ends on May 20, 2012. The dates range each year…this year it seems longer than normal.

I’ve been at least 3 times (a few times each year) in the last 5 years. I always take a lot of pictures. My boyfriend and I really enjoy all the topiaries and learning about different gardening techniques and landscaping (like we will one day do those things).

So, the festival has topiaries, flowers, a butterfly garden, festival center, special displays, HGTV designers presentations, Flower Power Concert Series, themed weekends, and fun for kids…in addition to all the normal things going on at Epcot!

My favorite thing about the festival are all the topiaries that they put out, they sometimes add new ones, they usually move around quite a few of them…so it has a different feel ever year. I also really enjoy the butterfly garden. And, since I love taking pictures…I always try to capture some wonderful ones of the butterflies. My boyfriend’s favorite thing about the festival are all the special displays for him to learn about gardening. We always have to stop at them, and talk to the representative there…and take pictures, of course!

Last year when we went (we still lived in Orlando), and I made a request that we go to see Genevieve Gorder from HGTV and TLC’s Trading Spaces fame. I remembered watching her in college and it was great to see her present. I got some great pictures of her. Unfortunately, we saw her on her last day there, so she did not have time to take questions. Due to the festival we are planning a one day visit to enjoy it in May, and the rest of our Orlando visit will be spent visiting with friends and celebrating my birthday! If you enjoy gardening or flowers…or just love Disney, definitely check out this festival sometime if you have not yet. Does anyone else enjoy going to Epcot for the Flower & Garden Festival?

Eggs Can Stand Up Any Time

I think we have all heard that eggs stand on end best when it is an Equinox, Spring or Autumn…but that is not quite true. Or perhaps you have heard that an egg will stand on end when all the planets are in line with the sun…hmm again not quite true.

An egg will stand on end (up) any time of the year, with patience. It took me a few tries, but late at night on 3/1/12 I was able to do it and my egg stood on end for many hours! These pictures said I took the first at 2am and the last at 4am, but I know it was still standing in the morning and I did not eat it!

So, go on…give it a try! One of my brother’s gave it a try about two weeks ago..and ta da it stood up! And a cousin made her broom stick stand up! Now that takes some talent and patience…I could not get mine to, just the egg. Have fun!

SELF Mag’s Drop 10 in 5 Wks – Week 1

I signed up for SELF magazine’s Drop 10 in 5 weeks, I guess 2 weeks prior, because they say I’m in week 3 online. Anyway, I officially started this week with week 1. My boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend, Shannon, decided to join me in this 5 week adventure. It started on Tuesday, because Monday Pete and I had been on the road. Of course weight and measurements should be taken to see the progress at the end. I just took the measurements yesterday (at least I got it in the first week).

Cardio Day 1 was warm up 5 min. Then using a scale of 1 to 10 walk/jog/run at the suggested scale (applies to all cardio days).

  • Sprint 8 seconds at Level 8.
  • Recover 12 seconds at Level 5.
  • Repeat for 15 minutes or approximately 1 mile. Cool down.

This became 1.85 miles in 31.49 minutes for me. I had to take a couple breaks, but I got through it!Strength Day 1 is 8 easy toning moves doing 12 reps and repeat. I used 3 lbs weights when necessary.

  1. Seesaw Sculptor
  2. Booty Lifter
  3. Side Slimmer
  4. Pick-Me-Up Press
  5. Total Transformer
  6. The Mermaid
  7. Kick-It
  8. Super Plank (we couldn’t figure out how to do so for both days did “girl” push-ups. Saw there is a video and will attempt next week.)
We got through it, other than the Super Plank modification and the next day my thighs were so sore!

Cardio Day 2 – of course start with a warm up.

  • Sprint 90 seconds at Level 8
  • Recover 3 minutes at Level 4
  • Repeat 6 times for about 27 minutes, and then cool down.

This ended up being 2.29 miles in 46.50  minutes from warm-up to cool down. Not too shabby. Pic is of me before heading out.Strength Day 2 was again the same moves as above, but I used 4 lbs weights this time. It was slightly more difficult as my legs still hurt from constant working out (and well if you know me, this doesn’t happen often…really plan to get through all 5 weeks). We did get through it, and afterwards, felt our legs did not hurt as much as before.

Cardio Day 3 was this morning and we went in a different direction and I think our warm-up was about 5 minutes (normally its been longer).

  • 2 miles at a Level 6 any way you like – and then cool down.

I ended up doing about 3.3 miles total in approximately 56 minutes. I only timed the 2 miles this time and had to estimate the warm-up and use Shannon’s time to estimate the rest. As I went and met her and finished her two miles with her and then we went home…so it got complicated. Happy thing – I completed the 2.01 miles in 30:31.5 officially by my MotionX-GPS lite app. So ecstatic about that!

Unhappy thing – I have to change my eating to go back to less carbs and more veggies, as I am gaining weight instead of losing this week, even with the added exercise.

Next week strength workouts stay the same, we can up weights if we like. Cardio keeps increasing in time or distance…until week 5 we do 6.2 miles (10k). Woo! Here’s to completing this!!!

January 2012 Movies Watched

Well, I just thought I’d share movies I watch…it’s been a while…so I’ll try to remember my impressions. Could be boring…oh wait posts will get better again! LOL!

No Strings Attached – Cute movie. I thought it was really sweet. Total chick flick and fun!
So, you have to take care of the frauds and side by side the brand of viagra generic for sale http://www.devensec.com/sustain/eidis-updates/IndustrialSymbiosisUpdateApril_May2010.pdf the medicine will catch the market and will dominate all. With time, we can understand why sugar level fluctuates devensec.com buy cheap viagra if we keep a track of/monitor it. However, cialis españa important to say that alcohol, if taken in conjunction with nitrate or alpha-blocker medication (used to cure prostate problems and hypertension).
Apollo 18 – A little on edge watching, but it was a bit predictable and no where near the movie I thought it would be. More hype to me. And the ending, oh…that just would SUCK. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past – Chick flick and Matthew McConaughey…is somehow a win for me. LOL. And Jennifer Garner is just so cute. Bridesmaids – Not the movie I thought it would be. I hate that I totally related at that moment. I felt like a mess after losing my job…but…phew not quite like she was. Not quite as funny as I thought it’d be, but I liked it a lot. Mars Needs Moms – Well, I liked it, but, I didn’t love it. It was not exciting enough and too predictable. The Change-Up – Not realistic. A lil too “real” at other times. It was just OK. And I do really like Ryan Reynolds, but eh. That whole bathroom scene…seriously, I totally sided with him…that was TMI! Bad Teacher – So, this movie is a guilty pleasure…and I totally loved the ending. And, seriously…loved seeing Marshall (aka Jason Segel) in this. Love me some HIMYM! Underworld – I love this movie. I own this movie. This was a total rewatch. Soft spot for vamps. Underworld: Evolution – Enjoy this movie. Own this movie. Another rewatch. 🙂 Not as good as the first. My Fake Fiance This movie was cheesy and I did not care for it much. Then I saw that there is a show with them both – Melissa & Joey…uhhhh…is that any good? Is it also a cheesy show? All images came from IMDB.com. Just so you know they aren’t my own. 😉

Big Blog Move

Last week, it became apparent that I needed to move my Jubar Sharing blog from blogger to my website. I have been paying for this website for two years, high time I use it. Also, blogger informed me that I had reached the limit of 1 GB for images and had to pay if I wanted to add more, and this was also any images on Picasa. Wow. I was stunned, but again it gave me reason to move my blog.

My blog will now be housed here. Once I figure out how to move my old blog posts without having to redo all of them…you’ll start seeing them, too. If not, I’ll be bummed…and you won’t see them (maybe a few of the newer ones). A lot of learning is going on here moving the blog to my own hosted site and using WordPress…so bear with me as I add and update the site. It’s going to be a work in progress!

Hungry for Change (Watch It!)

I want to recommend for you to find and watch the latest from Food Matters Hungry for Change! I posted about Food Matters and a couple other food documentaries I had watched hereHungry for Change talks about all the reasons one should change their diet (not be on a diet) and how they look at themselves. It’s a great motivator! After I watched this during their free preview, I was motivated to buy the movie (should have bought Food Matters since it was half price, ugh) and the cookbook – beautiful. Some other food documentaries I have watched and recommend are: 1) Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. 2)  Forks Over Knives. 3) Fat Head. 4) Killer At Large: Why Obesity… 5) Ingredients. 6) Dying to Have Known. 7) The Engine 2 Kitchen Rescue (wasn’t my fav). 8) The Future of Food. 9) King Corn.I watched all of these on Netflix, but I am sure some or all can be found via other means. 😉

The main point I got from watching all of these is that we should eat way less processed foods, less sugars, less partially hydrogenated fats, and definitely less hormones and chemicals. Eat more organics and locally grown. Eat your vegetables, fruits, nuts, whole grains (quinoa, oats), non-hormone infused dairy and meats, etc.

Here are some quotes from the Hungry for Change documentary:

“The problem is that we are eating “food-like” products.”
“People are overfed, but yet starving to death.”
“They put stuff in there that they don’t want you to know about, so they don’t put it on the label.” (When talking about processed food.)
“Partially hydrogenized fats are some of the worst fats.”
“Nature delivers nutrients in a complex, not an isolated version.”
“In this society, we’re becoming more comfortable saying that white sugar is a drug.”
“Over 75,000 synthetic chemicals have been created since the 1940s and have been released and are everywhere in nature on the Earth, including in us.” (not word for word).
“Vegetables are the most beneficial food group we have access to. Full of all the phytonutrients and antioxidants that we need.”
“The skin creams that most of us buy are full of toxic chemicals and not all are listed on the label.”
“It’s not just what you eat…but what’s eating you.”
“Self love helps improve eyesight, hearing, pulmonary function, lowers blood pressure, cardiac output, wire in musculature. Healthcare costs would go down dramatically.” (This is coming from a doctor…saying it is proven science.)
“Where does my food come from? What went into my food? What is my intention with the food?”
