Top 10 or so Freebies (So Far)

Last year around this time, I really started to getting into freebies. I mean, who doesn’t like receiving things for free? But, then it started to get like Christmas up in here!

Anyway, over this past year I’ve received a lot of great things free. Here’s my Top 10 (or so) List, and yes, it’s tough to pick just 10. Note, these are not contest wins, I’ll save that for another post. In no particular order:

1. Old Navy Activewear pants and a jacket. I got to get these items for free, because I’m on Crowdtap and they have sample & shares and I got lucky enough to be a part of this one and share with a friend.

2. Old Navy Winter Clothes! Got a pair of jeans, a sweater, AND a scarf! Again, because I’m Crowdtap, but this time it was party and I was able to share with THREE friends!

3. Old Navy Dress! Yep, you guessed it! I got this free because I’m on Crowdtap and it was a sample and share.

4. Purex Crystals and a Jockey sports bra! I am a Purex Insider and they allowed me to try these items FREE! And then, I was able to have a giveaway and a lucky reader won both, too! Amazing. Join Purex Insiders here. 5. Bil-Jac dog food. BzzAgent has campaigns where you get to try products for free, and my chihuahua loved this! And, since same category – Hill’s Science Diet Ideal Balance Grain Free cat food. This was another BzzCampaign and Maja happily ate this. 6. Old Navy shorts! I was once again lucky this month to get a free pair of shorts from Crowdtap and Old Navy! 7. Purex Triple Action Laundry detergent full size AND Purex UltraPacks full size (technically two different things, but hey very similar)! Again, being a Purex Insider has its perks! And, with free product coupons, I was able to share the Purex love. 8. Jason natural shampoo! I got this as a Klout perk! Pretty awesome. FYI – I’ve received about 20-30 perks. 9. Honey Bunches of Oats cereal. It is the most recent thing I’ve received to try from Purex Insiders and I will be blogging about it and sharing coupons with a reader or two. 😉 10. House Parties! I’ve had a Sabra hummus, Green Works cleaning products, Budweiser BBQ, riceworks, and Silk Fruit&Protein house parties! So much free stuff to keep and share! I love sharing these. Join House Party here.

Tacos, Shots, and Board Games

You could say this was the theme of my birthday celebration this past weekend! LOL. My actual birthday is May 14th, but I celebrated at the 12th. I’ll also be celebrating this upcoming weekend on the 19th. Woo!

I invited the people that I know in town, which consists of mostly Pete’s siblings and their significant others. Those that came were Anthony (Pete’s brother), Shannon (his girlfriend), Nicole (Pete’s sister), and Wes (her boyfriend).

During the day on Saturday, Pete made me a cake. He said it’s a big deal to surprise me, so he wasn’t going to try to. He baked the cake before noon, then did the frosting and decorating later in the afternoon. He made his mother’s secret recipe frosting, but then we altered it, bad us. I said I thought I was going to nap, and Pete encouraged me…so he could decorate the cake. Little did I know what that meant!

That night Pete and I made tacos for everyone, well we cut the veggies and made up the meat and beans! Then we all went processional and decorated our tacos! Delicious! I had 3!

After that, I felt like playing a game, and we played Apples to Apples. It was fun, and Wes ended up winning…by like 3 cards! Guess he was the best at picking something the rest of us would pick!

So…then it was time for the infamous cake! Pete wouldn’t let me see while he lit the candles! I had his sister Nicole take some pictures…and then finally I could turn around and see a beautiful blue butterfly! Oh my gosh Pete turned those 2 round cakes and 3 cupcakes into a butterfly for me! So amazing!

After the cake, everyone insisted I open the gifts they brought! Nicole had brought a bottle of Pinnacle Gummy flavored Vodka (no wrapping, we enjoyed this night). Anthony & Shannon got me a camping shower. Yep, Pete plans on us going primitive camping and encouraged others to help my woes about it. LOL. Wes wrapped up the gift he gave me in so many layers of wrapping tape and plastic…that it got frustrating – I think it was a camping awesome towel. LOL. Pete got me some Seafoam for my car, a cooling towel, a cooling thing for running or hiking or whatever for my neck, and a purple tool bag with all the girly tools I could need! Such practical gifts! Which is great, because otherwise I wanted Amazon gift cards or the like!

The start of many layers...had to use scissors carefully!

Pete's gifts to me.

After opening my gifts, we played Clue, because I really wanted to. Well, the game lasted a while with six of us playing and only getting 3 cards each! Minor bits of cheating went on…until finally the first cheater won anyway! LOL.

Well, not the board game, but close. (Thumbnail)

Everyone went home after that, and I think the night was fun and went well! Thanks to everyone for making it fun, and Pete for making it special!

Oh, we did try the Patron Blue Boss shot I found in my Seagram’s Bartending Guide. 1 oz Patron, 1/4 oz blue curacao, 1/4 oz of grenadine. Shake Patron & blue curacao with ice, drain into shot glass. Then drop to bottom the grenadine…made a pretty shot and I thought it was tasty.

**The day after my birthday (5/15) everyone surprised me at Carolina Letterpress (Pete’s Dad’s Company) with a cake! Pete told me to be down there around 4pm, as someone wanted to show us this cool thing with the big canvas printer. I wasn’t suspicious at first, but then I was like why would they come back a third time? LOL. Anyway, I didn’t get a picture of it, but it was a pretty marble cake with white frosting and pink flowers and writing. All so sweet!**

Of course, now that I’ve seen this Premier Clue game – I kind of want it. LOL.

SELF Mag’s Drop 10 in 5 wks – Week 5

So, I completed week 5 of SELF Magazine’s Drop 10 workout. Well, I did not approach this workout correctly. I feel great, I can work out now and sit down without pain! LOL. First week was tough. Second week a little less….and every week after all good, other than the shin splits. Those shin splits have been so annoying and have not allowed me to improve my walk/jog interval time. I mean the best I got to was around 13 minute miles…which wow…really was my best. Now, I’m walking 18 minute miles! Ugh. Anyway, I didn’t lose anything…all I did was stay the same. Third week I was down…and happy, and now I’m right back where I started.

What do I think went wrong…well not the exercising, as I did it all. It was the food. I did not follow a strict diet…and I couldn’t run. So, when I get back from my mini-vacation this weekend, I’ll start a new workout and figure out a meal plan to actually lose the weight I want to. Anyway…I remind…that I feel great and did notice some loss of an inch around my waist and a half inch on my hips. That’s something. And, my boyfriend says he sees me firming up…oh ya…that’s the real goal!

Here’s the workouts I completed for week 5:

Strength 1 – On Monday, I decided to try two workouts. I thought I was going to keep this up all week, so that I’d see some weight loss. I did not. I did however try the Simple Sculpting moves instead of the Easy Toning moves.

  1. Butt Shaper
  2. Turbo Twist
  3. Back It Up
  4. Waist Cincher
  5. Cobra Chiseler (well, I could not do the push-up part)
  6. Pink Flamingo
  7. Reach For It
  8. Heat Wave

Some of these were easier than others for sure. 12 reps in 2 sets. Toughest for me are Cobra Chiseler and Reach For It.

Cardio 1 – Monday evening I did the cardio workout with Shannnon, and decided to push those shin splints! My shins weren’t hurting…so…I set out to complete the workout as stated.

10 minutes

  • 8 seconds at Level 7
  • 12 seconds at Level 4

10 more minutes

  • 12 seconds at Level 6

Before Cardio

I managed to jog/walk 1.47 miles in 20.04 minutes! Best time yet…but the bad, was my shin splits were not gone and came back with a moderate vengeance. So, I had to walk the rest of the week.

Strength 2 – Tuesday night I completed the second strength workout.

  1. Seesaw Sculptor
  2. Booty Lifter
  3. Side Slimmer
  4. Pick-Me-Up Press
  5. Total Transformer
  6. The Mermaid
  7. Kick-It
  8. Super Plank

I still don’t like the Super Plank, it’s an awkward exercise, but I still attempt it!

Cardio 2 – It was raining Wednesday night, so we did our cardio on Thursday. Walked the whole way. Was supposed to be intervals, but just walked 4.24 miles in 1 hour and 46 minutes.

Cardio 3 – Shannon and I completed are final cardio workout and this one did say we could complete it any way we wanted. So, we walked. 6.36 miles in 2 hours and 22 minutes. Woo! That’s definitely the longest I’ve made myself walk…while keeping track.

Shannon & I before 6.36 miles!

Like I said, it felt great to complete the workout. I feel better, other than right now after I just ate two small cheese quesadillas….anyway. I like looking forward to exercising and seeing small changes. I look forward to fitting back into clothes I did some years ago…and being in the mid-range weight for my height, instead of the top or bursting over. So, even though I didn’t lose the weight I wanted, I will continue and hopefully see those changes over the summer.

Happy Mother’s Day

To all the wonderful mother’s out there! And, especially to my mom and grandma, both of whom I love very much!

My mom’s name is Stephanie and she had me and my brother, Jeremy. Neither of us have made her a grandmother yet. My mom is a huge animal lover and she’s always had pets (cats, dogs, ferrets, birds, etc.), unfortunately due to changes in her life this past year, she no longer has any pets. Crowdtap Old Navy Shorts Sample & Share (5/6/12)

I’m a Crowdtapper and Crowdtap gave me a wonderful opportunity to get a free pair of Old Navy shorts! And, to share a free pair with a friend! Since, I have had the opportunity at a few of these, I spread the love with different friends, and this time shared with Shannon, my workout buddy.

Crowdtap Old Navy Shorts Kit

May is a busy month for us, we had a 2nd birthday party to attend last weekend for our nephew by dating (she dates my boyfriend’s youngest brother), and we’re celebrating my birthday this weekend. So, we went last Sunday to Old Navy and spent the day shopping!

My Free Shorts Coupon!

I found out that Old Navy opened at 11am on Sunday, so we left around 10:30a to get over to the Old Navy (it is about 15-20 minutes away). It was great getting there early on Sunday, as there were people in the store, but it wasn’t very busy. Of course, the employees were more than helpful!

I was impressed with the selection of shorts! There were so many around the store, so many colors and styles. And, the pair I really wanted (and ended up with) they had on a mannequin. Hehe.

Nice to see ideas on mannequins.

I don't think Shannon even tried on a plaid pair...

We tried on about 5 pairs of shorts each…and took lots of pictures (not all shown). We even went back and retried on some to ensure we got the best pair. She went down a size, I uh, went up a size. Didn’t like that, especially since I bought a skirt, too, and it was my normal size (so really not sure what’s up with the shorts, o’well).

Shannon went with this Flirt jean pair, though skin tight on me, was loose on her.

The dark jean shorts Shannon went with were loose on the leg like these.

Plaid shorts, I went up a size in...so not quite as skin tight as this pair.

Shannon tried a couple purple pairs..wonder if she likes purple?

I love being a member of Crowdtap and getting these wonderful opportunities to share free clothes with friends! Previously, I had been a part of the Old Navy Activewear and Dresses Sample&Shares.

The free pair of shorts I took home!

If you would like chances like these, join me on Crowdtap via this link.

Happy Birthday Maja!

My cat, Maja, turned 13 today! I’ve had her since she was about 3 months old, so it’s wild to realize she’s 13! She’s a lovely grey/black tabby with yellow-green eyes. When she was younger, the vets said she was a butterfly tabby, but I don’t see butterfly markings on her anymore.

The summer of 1999, I adopted Maja from the shelter in Tallahassee. She was so small and cute! She’s always had a lil nip out of her ear. The 1999-2000 school year at FSU, I finally had an apartment, a studio apartment, and could have a cat! I named Maja after looking in a small baby name book I bought (at the register of grocery store), Maja was under Maia as an alternative. Some vets have called her “Maia”, but I prefer it to be pronounced with a “ja” sound (English). Think Raja from Aladdin with an M instead of R. 😉

When she was young, she was a scardy kitty. She’d lay on my chest and whenever someone walked by my apartment, she’d jump up off my chest…leaving claw marks! She also used to use those claws to toss her toys way up into the air and jump after them. Oh, so cute.

Uh, right, just like this were her claw marks...lol.

Well, she also used those claws to scratch furniture that was not mine. So, I did the unthinkable (keep in mind I was young, too, 20 yrs old) and had her claws removed – all claws. Trust me, I will NEVER do this again. NEVER. (Any cat I get in the future will keep all their claws and I will figure out alternative ways to deal with their scratching). It took a year (give or take) before she was normal, but she’s never played the same since. And, she must stay indoors at all times, she has no way to defend herself if she got out.

Maja has been a really good cat. She has only been sick ONCE! She had like a kitty flu, but I had been afraid she at some dental floss, phew! She drools when she purrs, which is a bit gross, but I read it is drool, not snot! So, that’s good! She wags her tail different than most cats, it twitches when she’s happy! She used to be at the door when I’d come home from classes and welcome me like a lil doggie…it was so cute. She doesn’t do this anymore. She’s not quite as susceptible to cat nip as other cats, but she does like it and roll around in it. Her favorite toys have always been furry mice…she doesn’t play much anymore, but I bet if I got out a furry mouse, she would play for a little bit. She also doesn’t jump on the counters (its rare) or up on book shelves. And, she does not steal food!!! Her favorite places to sleep are on our bed, back of the couch, and my office chair.

See how she keeps clean!

So cute when she sleeps!

Maja got in, Parker was put in. LOL.

The bad thing with her is…if she feels too hungry…like was in one room too long, she comes out…eats fast, then goes to MY bed and throws up! Oooh, not cool kitty! LOL. Pete definitely thinks her drooling while purring, and then swinging her head around so the drool flies…is bad.

Maja has a sense of humor!

I’ve never put clothes on her, except a Christmas hat, or two. I have NEVER bathed her. I read if your cat keeps clean, and isn’t long-haired, you don’t have to. I know cats aren’t huge fans of water, so I decided to just let her do her cleaning thing, and she does a great job. When she doesn’t, I’ll know she’s sick and it’ll be time to take her to vets. I have bought her so many toys…I had to give some away! Of course, since she doesn’t have claws, I haven’t bought her any scratching posts.

Because of this, the cases of males with erectile dysfunction continue to increase because only a small portion (less than 5 percent) of men using Propecia to address male pattern baldness are: Hypersensitivity (itching and hives, swelling of https://www.unica-web.com/ENGLISH/2018/GA2018-minutes-4.html tadalafil 20mg the lips and face) Testicular pain Increased libido (10 percent in the first months of use) Decreased libido (1 percent throughout its use) Erectile dysfunction Decreased volume of ejaculate Additionally, men. This herb can also act as a backup in the event the regular viagra uk treatment is not accessed. Not So Ethical Black Hat on the other hand, does several levitra uk things to scam the search engines.
Maja being 13, she’s doing pretty well all things considered. She’s not sick, she’s very agile and jumps high still. She’s got a bit of a belly though, but she is a house cat and an older one at that. I do think she’ll easily live to be 20 or beyond! So long as she continues to stay healthy! I plan to change her cat food to grain free once all the extra food I have is gone…its supposed to be closer to a cat’s natural diet (being one high in protein and no corn).

Happy Birthday Maja! My sweet tabby kitty, you are 13! I hope you enjoyed that Yellowfin Tuna and Shrimp breakfast I gave you, you deserved it (Uh, she sat there and ate the whole thing, so I do think she did)!

Enjoying her birthday meal!

April 2012 Movies Watched

Ahh, I’m caught up! Well after this post! Then I’ll just post once a month the movies I watched! 😉 So, without further explanation – here are the movies I watched in April.

I HATE Valentine’s Day – This was a cute movie. Very cute. Nia Vardalos is such a cutie and John Corbett seemed a good fit for her character.

Ghostbusters – I hadn’t seen this in quite a while, and really can say I didn’t remember much other than the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man and the main Ghostbusters – when I started watching I remembered more. Heh. Classic.

The Scorpion King – Can’t help myself. I like it. I own it. Best of the 3 for sure. The Scorpion King 2 – It is alright, and it was a rewatch…since last month we watched The Scorpion King 3 and made me wonder when she was killed. .. apparently sometime between 2 and 3. HA!

The Rebound – I LOVED this movie. Justin Bartha, I am forgetting where I’ve seen him (looked up – National Treasure and The Hangover), but I absolutely think he’s so cute. The ending…was too perfect.

12 Dates of Christmas – Cute move…and yes I watched a Romantic Christmas movie in April. I don’t care! LOL. Of course it was cheesy, but I still liked it. I have to say Mark-Paul Gosselaar is looking rather yummy…

Transylvania 6-5000 – This movie…haha. Quite interesting and silly and great ending. 1985 Jeff Goldblum and Gena Davis…why aren’t you watching this right now?

Thor – Watched to get ready for The Avengers. I liked the movie, but felt there’s more to tell. And hated the ending, but that’s the romantic in me. I was happy to read Thor 2 will come out next year. Chris Hemsworth did a good job in this role, as did Tom Hiddleston as Loki! And, Thor might now be my favorite of The Avengers…but Robert Downey, Jr (Iron Man), always has a special place in my heart – I mean I LOVE him. I digress.

Take Me Home Tonight – Super cute teen movie. LOL. Topher Grace is such a nerdy hottie. CAN NOT BELIEVE HE DID THAT in the movie…but glad for the ending. 😉

Cake – I totally watched this because  Heather Graham was the lead. HAHA. Yes, I did. I liked it, but then again I like chick flicks. Except Little Black Book. No. That one is bad. David Sutcliffe was so cute in this…and Taye Diggs was freaking hot in this. And, I just really like seeing Sandra Oh in anything…maybe its because I used to love Grey’s Anatomy, and actually like seeing her less serious.

What should I avoid while taking purchase cheap levitra check availability? You should take this anti-impotent medicine after undergoing proper consultation with a licensed doctor as you can experience some side effects on the body if the medicine is containing some chemical which is not suitable for your requirements. The Harvard investigators created a particular protocol for a golden retriever known as Navy who was cancer-free after having the approved cocktail of celecoxib, doxycycline, and tamoxifen – process generic cialis levitra accordingly grew to become referred to as Navy Protocol. We tend to had evolved some latest type of life vogue by ignoring some female viagra samples ancient back dated method of living. People with this issue will consume abnormal quantities, and then they will purposely force themselves to swallow something other than food, even when it’s just a small levitra price pill. The Awakening – I was in the mood for a creepy movie. I did not give it my full attention though, and it was really cheesy. And, the ending so predictable.

Mr. Deeds – Pete put this in the Netflix queue because my “sneaky sneaky” reference. Upon rewatching, realize he does not say it that much, but does it that much. HAHA.

Johnny Dangerously – I wasn’t sure I’d like this…but…I did. I think I was watching it more than Pete was. HAHA.

Dead Awake – I saw mixed reviews on Netflix for this…but I gave it a try anyway because Rose McGowen was in it. It was alright, nothing special, interesting ending. Felt there were holes.

Six Wives of Henry Lefay – Interesting movie. Pete kept walking in and thought I was watching a sad movie, but it wasn’t really sad, it was ridiculous. HA! Not entirely sure it was good, but in the end the movie wrapped up responsibly…enough. LOL.

Haunted Honeymoon – I am pretty sure I saw this before, but I sure didn’t remember it. Fun 1986 Gene Wilder, Gilda Radner, and Dom Deluise movie.

Happy Ever Afters – Hmm, yes…I don’t think I knew what I was in for. Interesting, quirky, weird movie. Some crazy stuff happens, and yes, you realize they should be together and they should not.

Lost in Austen – Super cute movie. Very long, so if you aren’t into period romances – mingled with some supernatural time travel – uh don’t watch, if you are – do watch.

Only 18 movies in April? What was I slacking? LOL. Well, it’s a week into May and I’ve seen 3 movies already! Have to wait until early June to find out what…unless I posted to FB! Oh, you can bet one was The AVENGERS! 😉

My favorite movies I watched in April have to be Thor and Lost in Austen . Yep, yep. What’s your thoughts on some or all of these movies? 😉

SELF Mag’s Drop 10 in 5 wks – Week 4

Last week, I completed week 4 of SELF Magazine’s Drop 10…woo! Well, I felt good exercising, did extra…and yet managed to gain 3 lbs back. I don’t think I ate too terribly, but I definitely had more carbs than the week before. Anyway, I worked out everyday Sunday through Saturday – woo! I did rest yesterday before Week 5 starts (today)!

Reminder: Everyday is warm up 5 min, cool down 5 min. And, when it says “Level” for walk/jog/run it is on a scale of 1 being the easiest and 10 being the toughest. Unfortunately due to the shin splints, I still had to walk, which considerably slowed my pace. Shannon is still doing the workouts with me, and once again, she was able to walk/jog and yep, I still was jealous.

Cardio 1 – On Sunday, Pete asked me if I wanted to go for a bike ride, and I said sure. I had been thinking about doing some cardio – so this worked. We rode for 31 minutes and ended up going 4.13 miles.

Strength .5 – On Monday, since last week I was down half a strength workout, I decided to fit in half of one in the morning. Did 12 of each below, but only the one rep.

  1. Seesaw Sculptor
  2. Booty Lifter
  3. Side Slimmer
  4. Pick-Me-Up Press
  5. Total Transformer
  6. The Mermaid
  7. Kick-It
  8. Super Plank

Cardio 2 – Monday night, was the official start of Week 4 with Shannon. It was HIIT workout Week 4, Day 1. I decided to push myself and do jog/walk…the whole time. My shins hurt, but not as bad as before. I decided I would have to walk on Wed.

  • 8 seconds at Level 10
  • 12 seconds at Level 6
  • Repeat intervals for 20 minutes
  • Side-shuffle, skip, etc. during “recovery” intervals to mix it up.

That's my spybelt, not my belly, FYI!

With warm-up and cool-down we went 1.91 miles in 36.12 minutes. The actual time frame was 1.65 miles in 23 minutes.

Strength 1 – Tuesday night we did our regular 2 sets, 12 reps of the following. I did start using 5lbs weights, and Shannon used the 4lb ones. We are starting to feel like these are too easy…I mean some are still tough, but more cardio tough…than muscle tough.

  1. Seesaw Sculptor
  2. Booty Lifter
  3. Side Slimmer
  4. Pick-Me-Up Press
  5. Total Transformer
  6. The Mermaid
  7. Kick-It
  8. Super Plank

Cardio 3 – I had to walk this day, Shannon did not. She did half of her intervals, then her feet started hurting and she walked the rest with me.

  • 3 minutes at Level 7
  • 2 minutes at Level 4
  • Repeat 8 times.

This ended up being 3.17 miles in 53.40 minutes. Pretty slow, and I really cannot wait until my shin splints heal. I can tell they are improving, which is why I pushed it on Monday.

Cardio 4 – I felt like doing a mile walk before our Thursday strength and Shannon joined. It was 1.8 miles in 32.46 minutes. Oh yes slow, oh yes hot out…but we did extra!

Strength 2 – The regular drill. Again 5lb weights for me and 4lbs for Shannon. Look at us moving on up! I half wonder with some if we should do 3 reps in Week 5…

  1. Seesaw Sculptor
  2. Booty Lifter
  3. Side Slimmer
  4. Pick-Me-Up Press
  5. Total Transformer
  6. The Mermaid
  7. Kick-It
  8. Super Plank

Cardio 5 – Since we had moved Day 3 cardio to Saturday, I still went out on Friday and did a walk by myself. I went 1.73 miles in 32 minutes. I should mention, I had only eaten a Cliff bar this day and that was while I was on my walk. Hah, then I had a burger for dinner. Weird and not good, I know.

Cardio 6 – Finally, Week 4, Day 3 – our 5 miler! I decided we needed a change of scenery for this, so we went to Columbia’s Riverwalk and walked that. This day was any way we like…so we just walked it….from one end to about the other end…and back. It became 5.24 miles in 1 hour, 54 minutes, and 11 seconds! Slow, steady…but it was really muggy! We were glad for the tree cover most of it, but not a lot of wind, and so muggy! But look at us…we did it…over 5 miles! It was our longest walk yet!

Shannon in the background.

The good – shin splints are slowly mending…and we did our farthest distance yet! The bad – my shin splints are still here and stopping me from really pushing my jogging limits. And, I’ve gained 3lbs since the beginning of the week.
