Weird Thing in My Arm

I had this bump on my arm for about 4-6 weeks. I thought it was a bug bite, a pimple, a growth…I didn’t know. It was hard and red and wouldn’t pop like a pimple. I’d try every so often, and even used a pin. Nothing. Frustrated, I ignored it, since I’m still job hunting. Warning its about to get weird and gross.

Fast forward to this week. This past weekend it finally started hurting and looked like pus had filled in. So, course one doesn’t like that…so I used a pin to pop it on Tuesday night. Out came pus…a good bit and blood. And, I noticed something white. While in doctoring myself, I tried to get it out…thinking it was pus, but it was harder and it wouldn’t just come out. It came out some and seemed like a hole would be left. I freaked instead and left it in. I went into a weird panic. It took a while to calm down. Then I cleaned it and went to bed.

Tuesday night, I decided I hated this bump and weird thing, so it was time to remove it! Really doctor myself! So, the weird thing is out and it left a hole. I cleaned it and bandaged it. Wednesday morning I looked up should it heal wet or dry. My Workouts Since Mid-May

I figured I should update “everyone” on the workouts that I have been doing the past month, since the Self Mag’s Drop 10 workout was completed (I could have went on with the new workouts, but I did not). I certainly haven’t stopped exercising, even though I’m not losing the weight I wanted, I feel better and I notice changes happening!!!

So, what have I been doing?

Week of May 13 – 19
This was the week right after the 5 weeks of Drop 10, so I kept it light (also we went on a mini-vacay that weekend). I did TWO strength exercises on Tues and Thurs, and that was all. One was an hour long, the other shorter.

Week of May 20 – 26
While we were at Epcot on the 20th, I wore my pedometer to see how much walking we did. It came out to 9.02 miles in 3 hours, 53 minutes, and 2 seconds. Phew! This is why when you got a theme park it is imperative to wear proper shoes and be prepared to walk MILES!

I also did 3 purposeful exercising walks (since shin splits are still bothering me) – Wed: 2.4 miles, Thurs: 2.89 miles, and Sat: 3.75 miles.

Week of May 27 – June 2
I did two walks and 4 days of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. This was the week, I decided to (re)start the video! The walks were Sun 2.43 miles and Wed 3.26 miles.

Sat – 30 Day Shred

I’d like to get up to 5 days of 30 Day Shred a week, but we’ll see. I am happy I am keeping up with the video…and my try each level to get me through the hot summer. I like that 30 Day Shred is 3 min strength training, 2 min cardio, and 1 min abs. I do like when I take the time to supplement with more workouts in the week, so I’ll keep trying to add walks and other moves, too. The only thing that bothers me are my shins splits (I am not sure why they won’t heal, I do try to keep impact on them to a minimum) and days I don’t drink a lot of water, I realize make my workouts more sluggish. Things to work on!

Organizing Motivation

Pete keeps telling me I need to get organized. I used to always think I was….and maybe I was when I was younger, but I sure am not now. I have piles of papers here, receipts there, stuff here, mementos there, and just stuff. I know what the piles are, but it’s a mess in my office, specifically. I am much better at the kitchen and bathroom and my bedroom. Yet still, there are random piles of “I don’t know where to put you” things….so….

We were in JoAnn’s Saturday night and while Pete was looking for some mesh for brewing, I looked at some books. At first I noticed stuff with yarn, and cooking…both thinking how do you get so good that you write a book….? Then, I noticed this book on Organizing Now. I flipped through it and I liked it.

A Few Confessions

I am starting this post with the thought that I will randomly repeat it, with potentially interesting or confessing information (or just stuff) about me! And, yes, I hear the Usher song when I read the word ‘confessions’…though this post isn’t as confessing. Hope you enjoy, anyway!

For this week’s or month’s edition, some interesting, confessing, or just random stuff about me:

1) I am a Charmin girl. I love Charmin toilet paper! I have tried other brands, but I always come back to Charmin. It really is just the softest, yet strongest! 5) After having two cameras stolen in the past (both oddly on the same day 3 yrs apart), I freak out when I don’t know where one of (uh, yes now I have multiples) my cameras are. Like, I go into a mini search-mode panic when one is misplaced. I hate that I have this freak-out, but I hope its understandable.

McCormick Grill Mates Party!!

On Sunday Pete and I hosted the McCormick Grill Mates Party that I was privileged to host by being a Crowdtapper! Join here!

Pete set up a lovely area for us to have the cookout – tables, chairs, tarp, and the grill! I shopped for all the grilling fixings! Guests brought sides, drinks, and dessert! Pete and I prepped the meat for grilling and set it all to marinate a couple hours.

We made Spiced Brandy & Herb marinated chicken tenderloins, veggie patties with Smokewood Maple seasoning, Molasses Bacon Pineapple turkey burgers, Molasses Bacon turkey burgers, and Brown Sugar Bourbon bbq sauce marinated shrimp.

The sides included: mushrooms & grape tomatoes, macaroni & cheese, pierogies, crackers & triple berry jelly, and fruit salad.

The desserts were Lindt milk chocolates, Nestle Girl Scout cookie wafer candies, and cheesecake with triple berry jelly (who knew a store bought cheesecake could be so delicious – jelly was from MI).

I also purchased some McCormick Grill Mates rubs and marinades to give away to guests, along with the Montreal Steak seasoning that came with my party pack!

Everyone loved the McCormick seasoned grilled meats…and everyone left stuffed. My favorite was the Molasses Bacon pineapple turkey burger with the pineapple aioli (that I made). I know guests loved the shrimp as that went fast (I don’t eat shrimp, so I didn’t help)! And, most “houses” got to take home a McCormick Grill Mates seasoning for later use…which I think is the best way to spread the love…let them see how easy it is to marinade at home!

I took lots of pictures, mostly of food…and we all chatted about various things…and watched the 2 year old and the puppy play (not sure if I saw them play together). All in all a pretty good cookout with more than enough food for everyone! Thank you Crowdtap and McCormick!

May 2012 Movies Watched

It sure is nice being caught up with something like this! Now for the movies I watched in May…only 13 of them.

The Smurfs – Very cute. Not for everyone. Loved the Smurf village. Not sure why they didn’t include all the originals or why they added new. O’well.

The Avengers – Awesome! So much fun! Loved it! I meant to go watch it again, but have yet to. And that scene with Hulk, awesome! Good amount of laughter with all that action!

Super 8 – Interesting movie. What exactly was the monster? It was good, but not something I will want to watch again or own. Once was enough.

Hot Tub Time Machine – Rewatch. Pete wanted to watch this again, and so we did. Still funny, still ridiculous.

Rare Exports – This was a weird movie and not all in English. Seriously interesting story. Not your normal Santa Clause.

The Da Vinci Code – Rewatch. I just felt like watching…still like it. Intriguing story, but alas, not true.

Mr. Fix It – I have to admit, I watched this movie because David Boreanaz was in it. LOL. It was cute, and for me I liked the twist at the end. Tad bit predictable, but still the ending was a nice twist. Ridiculous, of course, chick flick, yep.

The Skeptic – This was a weird movie. And, I still question the ending, but I gather…he forgave her…and he went “home” to mommy. WEIRD.

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark – I guess I watched this because Katie Holmes was in it and I was looking for a horror movie. Blah. It wasn’t scary, it was just a bit gory and weird. Those creatures were crazy…what…want kids teeth? Eww. And…a bit sad at the end what happened to Katie, but the girl and her dad got away. So, uh, happy ending?

What’s Your Number? – I’ve wanted to watch this for a while…Anna Farris is silly! Heh. It was cute…and Chris Evans, yum. I uh, predicted the ending, but doesn’t matter…it still was just what I wanted to watch.

MI: Ghost Protocol – I don’t think I’ve seen them all, but I guess that doesn’t matter. The movie had its ridiculous, no way that could ever happen and him survive, but…it was entertaining.

Year of the Carnivore – I did not know what I was getting into. It is an independent film and it was rather interesting. What a journey she goes through for a boy. (And the lead girl was on 30 Rock in 2011 – just watched that ep 6/5/12.) In the end…somehow it was all for the best.

The Proposal – Rewatch. It’s a cute movie, but seriously, you fell in love over a weekend after a couple years of nothing and him hating you? Not believable…but…hah…the line, “I want to marry you so I can date you.” Well, that makes it believable. LOL.

My absolute favorite movie I watched in May was….as if you couldn’t guess…The Avengers! Hands-down! Epic and full of action. In second was What’s Your Number? Cute, romantic, and a tad predictable. Have you seen any of these movies??
